Is your backed up data complete?

On the application wizard how many computer users can rely on their Data Backup? Frankly Wizards are the tools that make a user’s life easier. But can we apply the same concept when we are dealing with Data Backup? Hopefully the answer will be no. Without going into any debate it is better to discuss the most important parameters when performing a Data Backup.

1. The wizard or the application allows you to perform a set of verification of the backup job.
2. Point your mouse on the box and tick verify check box.
3. Make sure you know the log files location.
4. Enable its logging features.
5. If your destination location is a remote storage host such as a pen drive, the application gives you permission to encrypt the backed up data.
6. Don’t forget to enable all the job status feature.

In the application wizard if you don’t find these options then definitely you have to go and search them.

Another important task for the Data Backup process is to perform a restore test operation from time to time. For continuing this process you have to first select a previous backup set. After selecting it perform the restore operation to an alternate location. Remember if you are trying to take the Data Backup to the original location you would have to overwrite it with the older ones. Verify that the data is accessible and complete after the test restore operation check. The test restore operation checks that the restored files are not corrupted.
