WiGig Alliance confirms the Speculation of Tri-Band Wi-Fi in 2010

Let’s take a knock in the wireless world of Internet. The members of Wi-Gig Alliance confirmed the news that its first speculation has been completed covering the way for tri-band Wi-Fi routers as early as 2010. Wi-Gig speeds are predicted to be much higher than what it offers now. Supposedly, the speed is expected to touch between 6Gbits/s to 7Gbits/s which is ten times faster than 802.11 n.

Using the 60 GHz spectrum, Wi-Gig protocol is far away from 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies. These are basically the frequencies used by the current generation of Wi-Fi protocols 802.11 a/b/g/n. All the three frequencies and technologies could be implemented in a router or card by next year,. It will allow extremely high-speed at short distances than a handoff to long-range Wi-Fi protocols 802.11 n or legacy 802.11 b/g technologies.

The speculations, technically, has been completed but not published. Still the theories are at a debatable print. It is expected that a final spec will be done by the end of this year. Regarding 60-GHz technology, most developers have talked in the context of short-range, high-speed transmission. Such transmissions could be used to eliminate HDMI cables. According to some higher officials, this removal of HDMI cables is still the case of Wi-Gig Alliance where the technology is being considered for wireless networking and wireless HDMI.

According to another official, the WiGig Alliance is in talk with the Wi-Fi Alliance, currently the authority of logo and compatibility tests for Wi-Fi products. The same official also declared that WiGig will also develop its own compatibility testing programs next year.
