Although Windows 7’s made a booming appearance in the digital stores still Windows XP continues to lead the marketplace. The market for the operating systems becomes much more complicated with the emergence of Windows 7 Will Windows Vista prove out to be more popular in comparison to Windows 7?
The recent Share of Market
According to speculation, Microsoft Windows 7’s market share flows over the largest-ever declines in Windows XP and Vista in the November month. Reportedly it has been found that the Windows 7's gains were largely at the price of Windows XP. It has been also confirmed that, during November six copies of Windows XP were swapped. This is because of the fact that one copy of Vista was replaced by Windows 7 for the new operating system.
Windows 7 achieved over 4% of its market share in the first three weeks, whereas Vista took five months to reach the same target. Windows XP accounts for 69% share with the drop of 1.45% in November and Vista reports 18.6% share with drop of just 0.2%. The company, however, kept its total operating system share stagnant at 92.5%, the same as in October. Mac OS X and Linux, in the meantime, have reported a market share of 5.1% and 1.2%, respectively.
For Windows 7 Is Microsoft trying to kill Windows XP ?
It has been according to various analysts that there is a huge conclusion of XP in the market and Windows 7 is the great opportunity for all those people who declined to move to Vista. Additionally, it has been found that the old horse of Microsoft has lived longer than expected; hence, the company is planning to introduce EOL (end-of-life) to the nearly decade-old operating system.
Microsoft has also made an announcement that from July 2010, it will close down the support for Windows XP SP2, however, various critical security updates will be offered free of cost till 2014.
