Virus Alert rocks the online circuit

With the Christmas knocking at the door, the cyber world is yet again exposed to Virus threats. Malicious programs are already ransacking social networking sites like Face book and Twitter on the Internet. These programs are fast spreading themselves by taking control over personal accounts and sending out fake emails to all their respective contacts, as well as followers.

As a result, people are unconsciously advising their loved ones and co-workers on how to make instant money or increase their I.Q.’s or influencing them to look at their personal new video. The embarrassment faced is nothing short of a “collateral damage”.

In maximum cases, the architect of the malicious programs are high on making profits from the referral fees they are paid for directing unsuspected visitors to sketchy websites.

In this age of high cyber crime, even the crooks are on social sites now, camouflaging as a potential victim ready to catch the real culprit. In most cases, however, victims lose their control over their accounts after clicking on a fake link forwarded by a “friend”. Sometimes, the bad guys scan for personal accounts with easily accessible passwords to infect the system.

After discovering complete seizure of their accounts, victims try to send unauthorized public messages, apologizing for unintentionally infecting their friends.

According to an Industry report, as many as 250 Twitter users were infected this season and the number is already on the rise this festive season.
Earlier such malicious programming caused much embarrassment to countless Internet users. The number just keeps on increasing this season with viruses spreading through personal email address books .There is no stopping to this if counter measures are not undertaken seriously.

Generally, loaded messages, traveling from computer to computer, are more likely to be spiked by antivirus software. However, on the Internet, such measures give little protection.

Being tangled up in a virus attack on the Internet is painful. With the oncoming Christmas, the viral attacks are sure to multiply. Just, keep a safeguard on what you click while browsing the Internet and while checking your emails. Happy Surfing!
