Google to offer shortened URL service

As Christmas is round the corner, you might be planning to try some fresh and new look to surprise your friends and family. Google, the popular search engine has some exciting plans for you this festive season. From now whenever you meet Google onInternet it will give you a special gaze. As Google is venturing into a new territory on Internet with the launch of an URL-shortening service called Goo.gl.

Goo.gl. is not the only link shrinker on Internet as TinyURL and Bit.ly are some popular, high profile shorteners. It’s being built into Google products that begin with Google’s browser toolbar and its Feedburner RSS service. These two services can now create shortened Goo.gl URLs that will link to the source content while you are using fewer characters. This is mostly important for sharing on places such as Twitter as they have size limits.

The feature will come into spotlight with a share button for your Google toolbar that will help you link with pages on a number of social services. This shortening service is stable and also fast on Internet as quoted by Google. The company has placed same security measures. The features that would definitely benefit from having link shortening include Maps, Readers, You Tube etc.

The .gl is a top-level domain for Greenland. Even your very own Facebook also launched its own URL-shortening service called FB.me on Internet. So with this new tool ahead of you get going with Goo.gl.
