Norton Antivirus 2000 And Microsoft Office

Norton Antivirus 2000 protects your computer from being infected with viruses and malware. But sometime it may arise some problems such as inability to open files within Office or slow PC performance. Then you may feel the urgency of uninstalling the security software. Though you are not asked to uninstall Norton Antivirus as it may keep your computer open to virus and malware attacks you can do it at your own risk by following the steps mentioned below.

1. Exit all programs.
2. Click Start, and then click Run.
3. Depending on how Norton AntiVirus 2000 is installed, type one of the following commands:
o If the Norton AntiVirus program is installed as a stand-alone product, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
regsvr32 /u "c:\program files\norton antivirus\officeav.dll"
c is a placeholder for the drive where Norton AntiVirus is installed.

If the command is successful, you receive the following message:
DllUnregisterServer in C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\OfficeAV.dll succeeded.
o If the Norton AntiVirus program is installed as part of SystemWorks, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
regsvr32 /u "c:\program files\norton systemworks\norton antivirus\officeav.dll"
c is a placeholder for the drive where SystemWorks is installed.

If the command is successful, you receive the following message:
DllUnregisterServer in C:\Program Files\Norton Systemworks\Norton AntiVirus\OfficeAV.dll succeeded.
o If Norton Internet Security is installed, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
regsvr32 /u "c:\program files\norton internet security\norton antivirus\officeav.dll"
c is a placeholder for the drive where Norton Internet Security is installed.

If the command is successful, you receive the following message:
DllUnregisterServer in C:\Program Files\Norton Internet Security\Norton AntiVirus\OfficeAV.dll succeeded.
4. Click OK.
5. Restart the computer.

Microsoft Office And Norton Antivirus 2004

Norton Antivirus provides real time protection to your computer. But installing Norton Antivirus may arise some problems such as problems in opening files within Office or slow PC performance. Therefore, you may disable Norton Antivirus Office plug-in. Though it may increase the chances of virus attacks on your computer you can execute the steps at your own risk. Though it is not advised to execute the steps you can follow the procedure mentioned below.

1. While uninstalling Norton Antivirus you have to click Start, and then point to All Programs and then to Norton Antivirus. Then you need to click on Norton Antivirus 2002
2. Click on Option
3. Then you need to click on Miscellaneous under Other
4. Under How to keep Microsoft Office documents protected you need to click to clean Enable Office Plug-in the check box and click OK
5. At last you need to reboot the computer

Microsoft Office and Norton Antivirus 2006

Norton Antivirus 2006 usually scans for micro virus infection in the Microsoft Office documents. But installing Norton Antivirus 2006 may arise some problems such as inability to open files within Office, problem in installing some Office programs or performance issues in your computer.

To avoid or solve such issues you may deactivate the Norton Antivirus Office plug-in. While executing the removal process you can follow some steps. But you should know that uninstalling Norton Antivirus can make your computer open to virus and malware attacks. Therefore it is not advised to remove it. But the removal process can be given so that you can uninstall it at your own risk whenever you need.

1. You have to go to the taskbar and right click on the Norton icon and then you need to click on the Norton Antivirus Options
2. Click on Miscellaneous
3. Click to clean the Turn Office plug-in on check box
